The need...

Positioned within the unique town of Broome in the North West of Australia, the Broome Anglican Church seeks to reach out to a very transient and diverse community. This community includes elderly, young adults, families, and children of both indigenous and non-indigenous backgrounds. There is also a significant ministry to travelers who come to Broome for a day, week, month or even years.

To effectively serve this community, the church needs both a Senior Minister and Assistant Minister. At present the Bush Church Aid Society (BCA) contributes 75% of the Senior Minister stipend, but at this stage, the church congregation is unable to financially support the Assistant Minister position. It relies on the generosity of other churches and individuals in other parts of Australia to provide the necessary funding.

How you can help...

The diocese is asking churches and individuals to consider a commitment to support the Edwards in prayer and financially for three years in this position. The diocese needs to raise $70,000 p.a. to enable the Edwards to minister in Broome. This will cover all the expenses involved in placing a minister in an expensive remote town.

Supporters may choose to pay a particular bill such as telephone, internet, utilities, moving costs, or housing allowance for this period, or to give a regular cash gift toward Lachlan’s stipend and expenses.

The finances will be managed by the Anglican Diocese of North West Australia, and gifts should be sent to the Diocesan Office, clearly marked for the support of the Edwards family.

What your support will achieve...

By prayerfully and financially supporting this ministry you will be enabling the church in Broome to reach out with the Gospel message of salvation through Jesus Christ to various people groups.

Your support will also have long-term impact on the diocese, as the Assistant Minister position is also a training role, equipping Lachlan to effectively minister in a remote church setting with the intent of later being a Senior Minister in the diocese.
